Hey London, we want your Worn or Torn clothing & textiles!

The Worn or Torn Donation Drive returns in London on May 14, collecting old clothing and textiles through to June 5.
Londoners can donate their used clothing and end-of-life textiles (old or damaged clothing, sheets, towels, etc.) at the Goodwill Donation Centre located at the Sherwood Forest Mall.

The City of London and Goodwill, Ontario Great Lakes are once again partnering to bring back the successful Worn or Torn textile donation drive helping keep unwanted textiles out of landfill and giving them a second life.
From May 14 to June 5, London residents can drop off used clothing, textiles, and fabrics at the Goodwill Donation Centre at the back of Sherwood Forest Mall. Unlike traditional donation programs, this initiative accepts items in all conditions, including lightly used, stained, damaged, or end-of-life textiles.
The program builds on the success of last year’s pilot project in the Byron neighbourhood, which collected more than 35,000 pounds of textiles. Many items were resold in Goodwill stores, while others were repurposed into products such as automotive materials, reclaimed fibres for new textiles, and sustainable innovation testing materials.
“The first donation drive showed us that Londoners are eager to keep worn and torn textiles out of landfill — they just need a way to do it,” says Shawna Chambers, Director of Climate Change, Environment & Waste Management for the City of London. “We’re excited to bring this opportunity back on a citywide scale so more residents can help reduce waste and support a more circular economy.”
By diverting textiles from landfill, the initiative helps reduce environmental impact and extends the life of materials that would otherwise become waste. Every garment has a carbon footprint, making textile reuse and recycling an important step toward sustainability.
Residents are encouraged to clean out their closets and donate unwanted textiles rather than throwing them away.
