Transportation Supervisor

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the internal transportation department including departmental cost control/budget, fleet utilization, fleet maintenance, route planning/optimization and performance/customer service improvements. The Transportation Supervisor will directly manage the internal team of drivers ensuring best-in-class customer service, safety/compliance and service levels.

This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver’s license and a reliable insured vehicle. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that they have a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance upon being hired.

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze and determine optimum delivery and service strategy for the internal service network.
  • Cultivates an environment where drivers respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into daily work practices.
  • Oversees and implements various operational performance enhancements and ensures correction actions are properly implemented.
  • Oversees transportation asset acquisition needs and practices by creating short and long term strategies.
  • Improves management of fleets through the creation and adherence of Logistics Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps, recruiting, selecting and developing talent.
  • Coordinates and manages the day-to-day transportation operation including route planning and dispatching.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies/procedures and regulatory requirements including MTO, MOL, ESA.
  • Ensures that all Driver are compliant with HOS regulation using mobile EOBRs.
  • Supports the Operations Team in successful execution of service and delivery for internal customers.
  • Builds strong working relationships with internal service network including Store/ADC and Warehouse Management.
  • Transform delivery and service processes into best in-class.
  • Provide transportation direction and support within all operating.
  • Monitors daily metrics/KPIs and implements improvements in pursuit of operational excellence.
  • Ensures the team of Drivers follows all established procedures in alignment with the company vision, mission, strategy and culture.
  • Responsible for all fleet maintenance activities and record keeping including PM records and CVOR safety record.
  • Maintain all departmental reporting requirements including quality, safety, staffing, maintenance and service levels.
  • Ensure required Driver staffing levels and maintains Driver work schedules.

  • Post-Secondary Education in Business or Logistics or related field. CITT P. Log. Preferred, but not required.
  • 5-7 years’ experience leading a Transportation Department in a Supervisory capacity.
  • Thorough background knowledge in transportation related discipline including regulatory requirements.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS office and experience with route planning/ optimization software.
