Power of Technology Program

At Goodwill Industries, Ontario Great Lakes, we believe everyone deserves access to the digital world. The Power of Technology program helps Goodwill employees overcome tech barriers by offering affordable, high-quality devices—so you can stay connected, build skills, and unlock new opportunities.

2026 Program Details

  • A gently used laptop with Wi-Fi capability  
  • Each laptop is expert-inspected and ready to go 
  • Comes preloaded with Windows 11 and LibreOffice (only Windows based laptops are available) 
  • Free shipping to your work location  
  • No tax, and only $50 total cost (subject to change)  
  • Pay easily: $25 per pay for 2 pays, or one-time payroll deduction  
  • Includes a 3-month hardware warranty and support  
  • All of the devices renewed (professionally wiped, and refreshed) and ready for a new life with you!   

Please note: Devices are Windows-based only. Make/model depends on availability. There is a limited supply of devices. Laptops will be allocated based on application volume, with a random draw if demand exceeds supply. We do not maintain a waitlist of applications.

Are You Eligible?

  • Are you a current (full or part-time) core or transitional employee at Goodwill Industries, Ontario Great Lakes?
  • Have you worked at Goodwill for three months or longer?
  • Are you 18+? (only for Payroll Deduction option)
  • Leadership Impact Council and above are not eligible

How It Works:

  1. Complete the online application form (HERE) in the appropriate timeline
  2. Wait for a confirmation email

Your application may be approved depending on the volume of applications received, with a random draw if demand exceeds supply.

  • If your application is confirmed
    • Fill the payroll deduction form

(Must be 18+ to use payroll deduction option, other arrangements will be made for anyone below 18)

  • Payroll will process your payment
    • Your device is shipped to your work location
    • You’ll get an email notification when it’s on the way
  • Your employee coach will keep track of program participation and provide reports to management and the wider Goodwill community

Warranty Highlights

Your device is covered for a minimum of 3 months from purchase for hardware issues like:

  • Screen not turning on
  • Power issues
  • Keyboard malfunctions

Not covered:

  • Accidental or liquid damage
  • Cosmetic wear and tear
  • Battery life
  • Unauthorized repairs or modifications
